If you are moving to Okotoks and not sure which area would suit you best, I have compiled an in-depth look at each area of Okotoks. This post is about Cimarron and I will work alphabetically through the communities over the weeks ahead.
Cimarron Area Information
Development in Cimarron started around 1992 and it is still under 
development. Cimarron overlooks the Sheep River. The riverside pathways offer a great opportunity for biking, walking or running.
Cimarron Meadows and Cimarron Grove are newer areas in the southwest of Cimarron offering slightly smaller lots, but affordable housing. Cimarron Vista and Cimarron Springs have seen the most recent phases of building in the community. Country Estates offers executive style living on larger lots.
Cimarron is close to a number of schools, including Foothills Composite High School, John Paul II and St Mary’s.
Close to Shops & Restaurants
Okotoks has a large shopping area on the southern edges of the town. You can find the big stores such as Wal-mart, Canadian Tire and Sobeys Grocery Store, Safeway, drug stores, Staples, a Strip Mall including: Hallmark, Marks Work Wear, M&M Meat Shops, Reitmans, Pet store etc. There is also a number of banks, restaurants, gas stations and plenty of fast food options.
There is a second large shopping area, “Southbank”, which is just moments from Cimarron and offers Costco, Home Depot, Michaels, Winners and Dollar Store. This area is still under development with plans for more large stores and a Best Western Hotel.
